Introduction
Vancouver is the third largest municipality in Canada. Home of over two million people, work place of tens of thousands more. Emergency services within city limits are provided by 20 full time staffed fire halls, a city funded police department, and the British Columbia Ambulance Service. All services are carried on the E-Comm WARS radio system.

All police departments and RCMP detachments in Metro Vancouver alsohave access to a large number of police mutual aid channels enabling interoperability while working in other jurisdictions or with other agencies such as Fire and Ambulance.

The Vancouver Fire & Rescue Service operates out of 20 Fire Stations with 10 Engines, 13 Quints, 5 Ladders, 7 Rescues, 3 Wildlands/Brush units, 2 Hazmats, 1 Tech Rescue Team, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 2 Fireboats (FB1 out of Main St Docks & FB5 out of Burrard Civic Marina), 1 Command Vehicle, 1 Air & Light Unit, 1 Ambulance and a Hose Tender.

Ambulance
British Columbia Ambulance Service BCAS aka Emergency Health Service EHS Channel 3 of the ECOMM Wide Area Radio System is dedicated exclusively to the city of Vancouver, but Channel 1 also occassionally covers parts of East Vancouver (for example when ambulances from east Vancouver are required to cover Burnaby). Refer to Burnaby for Channel 1 talkgroups.
