BCAS maintains a communications network throughout all of British Columbia. The geography of BC requires BCAS to use over 70 mountain top repeater sites. All ambulances are outfitted with two-way radios. Rural ambulances use VHF frequencies. Within the Lower Mainland, BCAS uses the E-Comm WARS 800Mhz trunked system, as well as the CREST VHF trunking system in the Greater Victoria Region. Local comunitiy specific BCAS Regional Frequency's

Medical Priority Dispatch System
Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) is a medically approved unified system used by emergency medical dispatch centres to dispatch appropriate aid to medical emergencies. The system includes systemized caller interrogation; systemized pre-arrival instructions; and protocols which match the dispatchers evaluation of the injury or illness type and severity with vehicle response mode. BCAS utilizes a resource allocation plan (RAP) which is utilized with MPDS to determine the appropriate resources to send to a call and how the units are to respond. Media:RAPMatrix.pdf
